Georgia Tech is in position to make a big jump this week in the Rivals Cup rankings if Matt Kuchar can hang on to the lead. There are 3 former Yellow Jackets playing the shortened weekend in Plainfield, NJ which trails only Oklahoma State and UNLV who both have 4 former members in the field after the cut. A win by Kuchar would certainly move Georgia Tech up from its #4 rank, while current #3 Arizona State has only 1 former member playing the weekend and will likely slide a few spots when the new rankings come out.
No surprise on the conference side which sees the ACC continuing to run away in the both the top 25 rankings and the number of players competing. The big surprise to me this week was the complete collapse of the SEC who started 12 former members at the Barclay’s, only to see 9 of them miss the cut.
